Inpatient Sub-acute DetoxificationInpatient Sub-acute Detoxification means that we can administer medication and other medical/nursing care to the non-compromised patient. We do not administer IV’s, and we do not use restraints. We have agreements with local medical and psychiatric hospitals whereby we can transfer a patient who experiences detox complications requiring acute medical or psychiatric intervention. The Inpatient Sub-acute Rehabilitation level of care is designed for the patient who is free of acute withdrawal symptoms but may continue to need ongoing medical monitoring and/or may require treatment of a chronic physical illness which is unstable. Placement in this level of care is coordinated by admission criteria, individualized needs, availability of discharge resources for continuity of care, psycho-social aspects, and financial resources. Expected treatment outcomes include contact and coordination with family, employer, outpatient programs, living disposition, and arrangement of continuity of care. The patient is given various written and reading assignments, some presented in the peer group, to lead them toward recognizing their powerlessness over the disease and the unmanageability of their life. Patterns of behavior are identified and related to losses and other negative consequences, thus leading to identification of behavior patterns needed to be changed so as to cope with high-risk situations and triggers in the future. Once these treatment goals are attained, the individual is able to make a relapse prevention plan for the situations and triggers identified. These goals are worked on in individual counseling, group education, group process, family counseling, 12-step recovery groups, and other modalities. In general, the process of rehabilitation is to guide the addicted person toward taking responsibility for managing their recovery and giving them the tools to do so.
